Scope: Structural Engineering
Provided full structural engineering design and construction administration services for the seismic strengthening of this 180,000-square-foot, seven-story plus basement concrete moment frame building. The solution involved an innovative exposed exterior steel braced frame scheme, with concrete shear walls in the lower stories. The building was occupied throughout the construction. The strengthening was developed to achieve a “Good” seismic rating in accordance with the University of California Policy on Seismic Safety.
