San Francisco International Airport Concourse H BART Station

San Francisco, CA

Size: 90,000 square feet

Cost: $65M

Market: Institutional

Scope: Structural Engineering

SFO’s BART Station at Concourse H included the structural design of an airport entry and exit point for BART patrons, essentially allowing them to transfer to and from other airport destinations, including the rental car facility. The three-level, 600-foot long concrete moment frame structure, founded on driven concrete piles, was designed to BART’s strict displacement-based seismic criteria and has special blast resistant elements to protect aircraft from blast damage. The structure provides office space for BART staff, as well as train control rooms for BART and the airport’s AirTrain. Role: FTF Principal John Dal Pino, Principal Structural Engineer while at a previous firm.
