STRUCTURE Magazine: the Seismic Retrofit of the Atascadero Printery

FTF’s own Jillian van Enckevort, S.E. contributed this article on the challenging historical retrofit of The Printery in the Central California coastal town of Atascadero. The Printery is a 14,000 square foot unreinforced historic brick building, originally built in 1914. Severely damaged in an earthquake in 2003 and subsequently abandoned, we are working with local organizers to save the building and eventually repurpose it to serve community arts programs.
